Science and Innovation Days 2024

From 15 to 18 November 2024, the University of Tübingen and several partner organisations hosted the Science & Innovation Days science festival. This year’s theme is: Arguing better. Let’s work on it together.

The aim of the University of Tübingen and its partner institutions is to use the festival as a public engagement platform to intensify the dialogue with civil society in the city and region.

GACT was participating with different formats: For the school program and the science fair on Friday and Saturday we have designed an exit game that combines digital and haptic elements. In keeping with the theme of the festival, there is a dispute in the Hohle Fels: our scientists are arguing about who can take which samples first. You have to develop a sampling protocol to satisfy the scientists and escape from the cave. A topic that is not fictional: we are currently developing such a protocol – so far without any major disputes!

We have a first draft of a digital version of the exit game. Check it out (German language):

Play the game!

Many children and adults passed by, played the game and learnt all about our Leibniz ScienceCampus GACT.

We also added some digital content to the „Bärenhöhle“ in the exhibition during the Long Night of the Dinosaurs. The topic was again ‘conflict’ and we focuse on conflicts between different animals (including human) in caves, based on this paper published earlier that year. Since the content is thought to reach the public community it is in German language.

Welcome to the Bärenhöhle – a digital addition to the exhibition.

Besides that, we read stories for children in the evening connecting to the content of this paper.
