A Milestone achieved: Dirty Science

Yesterday (April 16, 2026), we celebrated the opening of our exhibition “Dirty Science – Cave Sediments as Archives of the Past.” More than 100 visitors made their way up to Hohentübingen Castle to join us for the occasion.

Following welcoming remarks by Director Ernst Seidl, Nick introduced the Hohle Fels cave and its significance as a scientific archive. Cosimo then presented GACT and offered insights into why “dirt” can be far more valuable than it might seem.

“Dirty Science” is a special exhibition of the Leibniz ScienceCampus GACT, presenting current research and projects of the campus to the public. The content was developed collaboratively by researchers, staff, doctoral candidates, and postdocs from the campus and its partner institutions.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to bringing this exhibition to life!

The exhibition will stay until November, 29, at the Schlosslabor in Tübingen, the place where Friedrich Miescher first discovered DNA.
It is open during regular museum opening hours. Admission is free.
