Dr. Milan Varsadiya joined the GeoGenomic Archaeology Campus Tübingen (GACT) in March as a postdoctoral researcher under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Andreas Kappler, Prof. Dr. Michaela Dippold, Jun. Prof. Dr. Cosimo Posth, Prof. Dr. Christopher Miller, and Dr. Susan M. Mentzer. His work is carried out in collaboration with both GACT and the Geo- and Environmental Research Center (GUZ) at the University of Tübingen.
Dr. Varsadiya’s doctoral research focused on microbial communities in permafrost environments and their roles in biogeochemical cycles under future climate scenarios. Before his appointment at Tübingen, he held a postdoctoral position at the University of Bayreuth, where he investigated how substrate chemistry and soil heterogeneity influence microbial carbon use efficiency. In his current project at GACT, he is developing and conducting experiments to assess the effects of phosphorus and other soil components on the mobility and recovery of ancient DNA.
