New Paper on ancient DNA

We’re pleased to announce our new publication titled „A probabilistic approach to visualize the effect of missing data on PCA in ancient human genomics“. The article was published in BMC Genomics by our GACT speaker Cosimo Posth, GACT member Kay Nieselt and collaborators. The study presents a novel probabilistic framework, named TrustPCA, to explore how missing data influence PCA results in ancient human genome research—an issue of increasing relevance due to the fragmentary nature of ancient DNA. By modeling uncertainty and data structure more transparently, the approach offers new insights for interpreting population structure and genetic ancestry in archaeogenomic studies.
