Charlottenhöhle: Day trip to LOne Valley

Last Monday, a group of GACT members and students from the course “Archaeology and Ecology of Caves – the Swabian Jura Sites” visited Charlottenhöhle in the Lone Valley.

Charlottenhöhle is one of the largest publicly accessible caves in the Swabian Jura. Our local cooperation partners gave us a tour of the cave, and together we explored how GACT might contribute to future research at the site.

We discussed questions about Palaeolithic life:
Was the cave accessible during the Ice Age? Did humans enter the cave, or was it only used by cave bears? How old is the cave and how could we possibly date it?

Here are some impressions!
